Solid Wood Furniture vs. Cheap Imports
We cherish the solid wood furniture in our home, some of which was handcrafted by our grandfather more than 225 years ago. His name and the date he crafted each piece is written on the back of the furniture. We’ve cherished and kept his furniture in our family for many generations. Many people have found that seemingly lower cost imports aren’t so cheap once they’ve attempted to get daily use from them. If you live in the country as we do, we have this saying that the cheaply made imported furniture is what builds garbage mountain. We see the mountain of trash growing and growing.
The highest natural elevation in Lancaster County where our early ancestors from Switzerland came to live in 1695 is on our farm. There is a landfill that is only 80 feet from surpassing our beautiful natural mountain’s elevation which is 1,183 feet. We’re happy to offer our solid hardwood furniture that can last a lifetime and beyond.

What is the difference between hardwood and solid wood furniture?
What may look at first like solid hardwood furniture might be something else. It pays to ask questions and take a hard look at materials. Substitutes can't compare to solid hardwoods when it comes to holding nails and screws and withstanding stresses, loads, and abrasions of daily life. Remember, a term such as "oak finish" may simply refer to the color or the photographic reproduction of the wood's grain, (this is called wallpaper or foil veneer) it does not necessarily mean it is the authentic, natural hardwood.
How is Country Lane’s furniture different from furniture in national chain stores?
Our goal is to treat you like we would want to be treated. We have a friendly, knowledgeable sales team that does not work on commission. We don’t follow customers around the store bugging or pressuring them.
We're unlike other stores when it comes to having custom furniture, locally handcrafted solid wood furniture, and American-made upholstery and mattresses.
We can custom design and build furniture for you that fit your space and style, including custom color/stain matching and hardware to suit your decor. We can deliver and install your furniture in your home too.
We have more than 30 stains, 8 paints, and hundreds of custom stain options as well as custom stain matching. We also have many species of solid hardwood and a variety of pine furniture, barn wood, and other rustic woods.
Other stores carry cheap imports and advertise that they have a variety of paint and stain colors while only offering a few.
Where do you offer furniture delivery?
We deliver furniture with care in Pennsylvania and nearby states (MD, NJ, DE, NY, VA, DC, OH) on our trucks. We ship furniture anywhere beyond those nearby states. We also offer delivery to packing point locations for intermodal containers to be shipped overseas.
